Who we are

Jay Wells - Studio Owner/Guitarist

After my Vietnam draft and playing in a band while in the service, I came home and played in a band in California for 10-years. After missing an opportunity while on the cusp of getting signed, I moved on to dedicate my time to starting my own company. I kept music in my life as much as I could and eventually, slowly started accumulating more and more instruments and gear.

After years of instruments piling up in the house, my blessed wife pushed me to finally build a dedicated space I had talked about for some years. It was suppose to be just a little jam room with plenty of storage.

Weston Ray - Head Studio Engineer/Producer/Drummer

My journey began behind the drum kit, playing alongside my older brother throughout my teenage years and into my early twenties. Those early studio sessions as a band cemented my vision: a lifelong career in music production. Over three decades and four studio builds—including my collaboration here with Jay—I’ve worked with countless artists across diverse genres.

While technological advancements have opened doors and enabled creativity like never before, they've also reshaped the landscape of the industry. Adaptation is essential, yet my passion remains rooted in crafting timeless songs and records. Achieving that kind of enduring quality requires significant time—something many artists today are reluctant to invest outside their personal bedroom setups.

At JRigged Recording Studio, I dedicate myself to those artists who understand the value of patience and artistry in the pursuit of authentic, lasting music.

Rob Kerr - Engineer/Producer/Guitarist

I’ve had a deep love of music for as long as I can remember. When I first met Weston nearly 30 years ago, I immediately fell in love with the recording and production process the second I stepped into the studio. Wes has taught me nearly everything I know about engineering and production and even helped me to assemble a small recording rig at my house, where I love to record my own small projects with friends and family in my spare time.

My favorite part of the job is getting to work with so many amazing, talented, and passionate musicians from all genres. I consider it an honor and a privelege being able to help them bring their projects to life.
